POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Research Associate works under supervision of the Scientific Leader. The Senior Research Associate works closely with the Senior Scientist/Scientist and the Animal Technicians to perform activities in support of mechanism of action (MOA) and proof of concept (POC) studies for internal programs and exclusive channel collaborations. The candidate is expected to work both independently in her/his areas of expertise and to provide laboratory support to meet the needs of the research project and that of the Senior Scientist/Scientist. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for performing technical procedures, such as, assay development, ELISAs, FACS, molecular biology techniques, troubleshooting, sample analyses, tissue culture, protein purification and analyses, and working with viral preparations, based on the needs of scientific projects at Intrexon. 
  • Responsible to maintain a detailed notebook of in vitro activities and prepare SOP for novel assays developed at Intrexon.
  • Responsible to perform activities in support of pre-clinical studies which may include technical procedures like inoculations, bleeding, minor and major survival surgery and autopsies.
  • Interacts regularly in a collaborative and constructive manner with her/his supervisor and Intrexon scientists to identify and establish necessary skills.
  • Plays an active role in the execution of research with guidance from her/his supervisor including and not limited to designing in vitro assays and analyzing data..
  • Follows standard operating procedures and maintains records to comply with regulatory requirements.  
  • Works on assignments independently that are complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. 
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • B.S. or M.A. in a related discipline or equivalent based on experience
  • At least 8 years related experience
