POSITION SUMMARY
 
The Research Associate II position will be part of the human antibody discovery team using cutting edge screening technologies.  The associate will be responsible executing on projects for antibody expression, purification and characterization.  The appropriate candidate will have extensive experience with cell culture, cell-based assays, and protein purification.    The associate will be expected to complete scientific and technical tasks on aggressive timelines and to work as part of a team on varied tasks with changing priorities.  Position requires excellent communication skills, a documented ability to handle complex protocols, an ability to plan and carry out experiments independently, and to work with advanced instrumentation and software.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be a key member of the human antibody discovery team that will support all screening activities, encompassing expression, purification and in vitro characterization of monoclonal antibodies from various therapeutic antibody programs.
  • Set up and perform PCR reactions as well as perform characterization of protein therapeutics by SDS-PAGE, western blotting, and ELISA.
  • Responsible for timely documentation of laboratory work.
  • Maintain knowledge of current antibody literature.
  • Accurately perform calculations necessary for laboratory work and analysis of experimental results.
  • Responsible for performing basic troubleshooting.
  • Support laboratory activities by monitoring lab equipment and maintaining a clean working environment.
  • Evaluate data and provide succinct and clear reports that can be shared and transferred to and from cross-functional teams; responsible for clear communication in both written and oral forms.
  • Pay attention to detail, strictly adhere to safety protocols, and use knowledge of basic laboratory procedures to advance projects under rapidly shifting priorities and timelines.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • B.S. in Cell Biology, Stem Cell science, Molecular Biology or related fields; M.S. preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience with B.S. or 0-2 years with M.S.; relevant industry experience preferred.
  • Broad experience with antibody characterization, including in vitro cell based assays, affinity measurements.
  • Proficient in basic molecular biology techniques and protein analytical techniques (PCR, cloning, sequence analysis, SDS-Page, Western blotting, and ELISA).
  • Hands-on experience with research-scale methods for protein purification (protein A, protein G etc).
  • Strong writing and experimental documentation skills.
  • Experience using high-content, image-based software analysis systems is a plus.
