Research Associate (level to be determined by candidate)

Intrexon is seeking highly motivated and creative Research Associates with experience in molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry and/or assay development to support efforts within our Human Therapeutics and Immunology teams. We are seeking candidates looking for a fast paced, exciting working environment utilizing state of the art technology. Level will be determined based on candidate experience.

Experience:Experience cultivating and analysis of mammalian cells required, proven track record of accomplishments, preferably in the biotech, pharmaceutical industries.

  • Minimum one (1) year of laboratory experience performing a combination of the following skills:
    • Culture, transfection and analysis of mammalian cells
    • Purification of DNA, RNA, and protein from mammalian cells
    • Setup, running, and analysis of PCR and RT-qPCR reactions
    • Functional cell-based in vitro assays with multiple cell types
    • Flow Cytometry (FACS)
    • Experience in development and execution of assays using various platforms (ELISA, qPCR, enzymatic activity assays, proliferation assays, western blot, cell-based assays, MSD, HTRF, microscopy, etc.)
    • General lab management activities
    • Experience with bioinformatics tools such as Vector NTI, CLC Workbench, NCBI Blast, and primer design software is a plus
    • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
ADDITIONAL PREFERENCES: (for a more senior candidate)
  • Demonstrated experience with isolation of human or mouse primary immune cells, and with culturing primary immune cells and cell lines, including T cells.
  • Experience with viral or non-viral gene delivery into primary immune cells and cell lines.
  • Hands-on experience with immune cell-based assays to determine proliferation, activation, suppression and cytokine production of immune cells, including T cells.
  • Strong skills in ex-vivo analysis of human or mouse primary immune cells by multi-color flow cytometry; proficient with FlowJo and FACSDiva.
